Reed Smith joined Out Leadership in early 2020. The law firm is an industry leader in DE&I and has received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for the past nine years. The firm hosted our first Return on Equality™ Forum in Houston, Texas last week, partnering with us to bring together business leaders with government officials and local non-profits for a state-level discussion on how all entities can support their LGBTQ+ constituents, employees, and clients. Alan York, who hosted the dinner on behalf of the firm, was recently named to the Outstanding Top 100 LGBT+ Executives Role Model List. York is the global leader of PRISM, the firm’s LGBTQ+ business inclusion group, and led efforts to bring to Texas the Name Change Project, a program of the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund that provides pro bono legal services to individuals seeking name and gender marker changes.
PRISM, in collaboration with the firm’s Jewish Inclusion Committee, invited Jane Barry-Moran (Out Leadership’s Director of Research & Programs) to speak at an event focused on ways to combat hateful speech and conduct. About the event, Jane remarked that she was “so moved by the earnest audience questions and the ways in which my fellow panelists shared their experiences and called for intersectional allyship.”
