Congressional task force on trans issues launched

The Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus has launched a task force to address the issue of trans equality.  The announcement coincides with Trans Awareness Week.

The task force, which was created partly as a response to recent violent incidents against members of the trans community, is made up of nine members of the House of Representatives.  Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida is the only Republican member.

Following the announcement of the Trans task force, the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus held a forum where advocates spoke out in favor of more education about trans issues and called for nondiscrimination protections for the community.
