Goldman Sachs nominated for State Department award for commitment to LGBT rights

The U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs has announced the finalists for the 2015 Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence.  Among the finalists is Out Leadership member company Goldman Sachs, selected for its commitment to LGBT rights.

The bank’s Hong Kong operation is one of just three companies chosen as finalists in the “Human and Labor Rights” category. According to the State Department, Goldman “served as a model for promoting inclusion and respect for diversity in the workplace, particularly with respect to sexual orientation and gender identity.  The company has partnered with other firms to promote the development of a large LGBTI professionals network, and has sponsored numerous LGBTI-related awards and events.”

The Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence was established in 1999 to honor American companies that are global leaders in corporate responsibility.  This year’s winners will be announced on March 1.
