More than 55% of LGBT+ people and people with disabilities experience bias at work in India

“India, Inc” isn’t yet finding much success when it comes to inclusion – a 2018 TimesJobs survey in India found that 57% of LGBT+ people, and people with disabilities (PwD) workers said their companies did not openly recruit LGBT+ and PwD candidates. Over 55% of respondents reported experiencing bias.

Most companies do have formal anti-discrimination policies, and even diversity and inclusion programs, but often they serve merely as lip service.

Still, experts say progress has been made, even though future progress will need to start with internal culture change before LGBT+ people are recruited openly.
