Over 100 Tennessee religious leaders sign statement opposing anti-LGBT+ bills

More than 100 religious leaders from across Tennessee signed a statement in opposition to 6 anti-LGBT+ bills currently before the Tennessee General Assembly. The statement was organized by LGBT+ advocacy group the Tennessee Equality Project.

“As leaders of faith communities we oppose these bills in the Tennessee General Assembly. They promote discrimination rather than justice and demean the worth of LGBTQ people in our state. We call on people of good will to join us in speaking out for basic fairness,” the statement reads.

The 6 bills target marriage, adoption, and bathroom rights as well as discrimination protections for employees of government contractors.
