The nomination delay is centered on Democrat Chai Feldblum’s nomination for a third term. Feldblum is the EEOC’s first openly gay commissioner, and Republican senators blocking the nomination cite her perceived bias towards LGBT+ rights over religious rights. Her nomination delay is in turn delaying two of Trump’s Republican nominees.
