Vodafone has been recognized as a global leader when it comes to creating a work environment inclusive of LGBT+ people by Stonewall, the British LGBT+ rights organization.
Vodafone New Zealand has recently established an LGBT+ employee network called Vodafone NZ Rainbow Whānau. The network serves a dual purpose – connecting the LGBT+ community and furthering the company’s efforts to create a safe environment for LGBT+ employees.
Rainbow Whānau will help develop training for staff who work with LGBT+ customers, and update internal systems to include non-binary gender options.
“As a large employer we believe we have a responsibility to take a lead on issues that are important to our staff and also to our customers,” Antony Welton, HR director of Vodafone New Zealand, told HRD New Zealand.
