Here’s what’s been trending on social this past week:

A drag queen story hour in Columbus, Ohio was canceled when armed right-wing militias, including the Proud Boys, demonstrated against the reading of books to children. The coordinated suppression of LGBTQ+ community events mirrors a terrorist attack in North Carolina, where the Proud Boys attacked a power station in order to prevent another drag event from moving forward, leaving 40,000 people without power.

In the aftermath of the shooting in Colorado Springs and other terrorist violence against the LGBTQ+ community, many prominent drag queens have hired armed guards and installed metal detectors at their events to protect against rising far-right incitement.
