The Chinese workplace advocacy group WorkForLGBT has released the results of their second annual China LGBT Social Climate. The poll, created in collaboration with YouGov and PFLAG China, reveals considerable support among the general population for LGBT workplace protections.
According to the survey, 77% of respondents believe that workplace culture should be welcoming of all, regardless of sexual orientation. A further 72% believed that LGBT people should have equal access to employment opportunities. Participants who personally knew an LGBT person were significantly more likely to support LGBT rights.
The survey results were not as positive when it came to marriage equality, with only 39% of people voicing support for the legalization of same-sex marriage. Only 48% thought homosexuality should be “accepted by society.”
