Mexican boy stands up to anti-LGBT+ march

A Mexican boy was photographed blocking a 11,000 person anti-LGBT+ march. When asked why he stood in front of the marchers, he replied that his uncle was gay and didn’t like people hating him.

The photograph has been likened to the famous Tiananmen Square photo depicting a Chinese student standing in front of a line of tanks

The protest was held in response to Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto’s plan to legalize same-sex marriage. Other protests were held throughout Mexico. Currently same-sex marriage is legal in only nine of 31 Mexican states.
