Hillary Clinton announces LGBT proposals

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has released a fact sheet detailing actions she will take, if elected, to further LGBT equality.

Among other things, Clinton will support efforts by the federal government and courts to clarify that the term “sex discrimination” in federal laws includes discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, which would  greatly expand civil rights protections for members of the LGBT community.

Clinton also pledged to increase investment in the Global Equality Fund by $50 million.  The fund, which Clinton created while she was Secretary of State, supports programs that advance the human rights of LGBT people around the world.
