DACA is an LGBT+ issue, too

Under Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), undocumented immigrants under the age of 16 and who met other requirements were given temporary work authorization and protection from deportation for a renewable two-year period.

President Trump’s announced intention to end the program has disrupted the lives of the 800,000 immigrants who have benefitted from DACA, pursued higher education, and participated more openly in the U.S. economy

In Michigan alone, estimates place the economic cost of repealing DACA at $418 million. The Williams Institute estimates that 75,000 Dreamers are LGBT+, and 36,000 of those participated in DACA.
