Court will hear appeal of Louisiana Governor’s executive order banning state discrimination against LGBT+ people

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards’ 2016 executive order requiring that state contracts include protections for LGBT+ people, which was declared unconstitutional by a state court last December, will now proceed to an appeals court.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry had previously sued Governor Edwards over the order.

The appeals court will hear arguments on August 15.
