The 2015 China LGBT Community Report was released this week by the nonprofit business network WorkForLGBT at the annual China Pink Market Conference in Shanghai. WorkForLGBT is a non-profit business network for LGBT employees in China and a platform for dialogue and collaboration with companies on LGBT corporate equality issues; its annual China LGBT Community Report seeks to inform companies on the size of China’s LGBT market, as well as effective tactics for engaging LGBT Chinese consumers.
48 percent of respondents said that corporate support for LGBT rights and policies was important for them as consumers. The report also revealed that more LGBT people in China, estimated to number around 70 million, wish to come out to more people in the next five years.
Steven Paul Bielinski, the founder of WorkForLGBT, told Gay Star News that “companies [in China] are starting to realize the importance of LGBT diversity in their recruiting and retention of talent.” And companies are beginning to “understand how to better serve the needs of LGBT customers and employees.”
