The Bay Area Rapid Transit Board of Directors will vote on September 14th to add LGBT+ contractors to the agency’s list of minorities qualified to take part in its Small Business Program.
The change means that certified LGBT+ contractors will be eligible to receive a 5% bid preference on small business prime contracts, and contractors would be eligible for the increased preference cap on Measure RR funded contracts.
To qualify, contractors will need to be certified by the NGLCC, the California Public Utilities Commission, or California’s Department of General Services.
