The Thai trans organization Teak Trans Empowerment has announced plans to hold a job fair for LGBT+ people seeking employment this coming March 31, in recognition of the International Transgender Day of Visibility.
Although trans identities are not uncommon in Thailand, and Being Gay in Asia’s report on the country notes that there are reports of gender and sexual behavior that did not conform to “heterosexual norms” going back to the 14th century there, trans people in Thailand can still face significant discrimination in public accommodations and employment.
Khao Sod English reports that the job fair will include booths from a dozen companies, as well as participation from a variety of trans rights organizations.
