$2.5 billion of PG&E’s procurement spending went to diverse suppliers

San Francisco-based Pacific Gas & Electric announced Monday that $2.5 billion in supplier spending had gone to diverse businesses in 2015, a record for the firm.  The $2.5 billion accounted for 44% of the utility’s total procurement.

The company has “one of the leading supplier diversity programs in the country,” and in 2012 was the first firm in the energy industry to add National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce-certified LGBT owned business to its supplier diversity program.  PG&E was also involved with the inaugural Small Business Administration-sponsored LGBT Business Builder program last year.

According to company Chairman, President, and CEO Tony Earley, “by building a supplier network that taps into California’s extraordinary diversity, we are helping to create greater economic opportunity in our local communities as we work to provide our customers with energy that is safe, reliable, affordable, and clean.”
