San Francisco has become the first city to issue an official proclamation joining Open to All, the Movement Advancement Project’s national public engagement campaign to end discrimination. San Francisco elected officials including Mayor London Breed and Supervisor Vallie Brown have pledged to welcome everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, age, immigration status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religion or disability.
Mayor Breed urged cities, elected officials, and businesses across the country to embrace inclusion by taking the Open to All Pledge.
“As people go about their daily lives, from going to the gym, school, work or hanging out with friends, they should not have to worry about whether they will be welcomed or face hostility and even be denied service simply because of who they love, their race or ethnicity, gender identity or expression, disabilities, or religious beliefs,” said Mayor Breed.
