Snapchat Discover added UK-based website PinkNews as its first LGBT+ partner this week. Though Snap has featured LGBT+ content in the past, this marks its first partnership with an LGBT+ specific channel.
PinkNews currently draws 5 million readers a month, based mostly in the UK and the US. With Facebook traffic declining for most publishers, PinkNews CEO, Benjamin Cohen, anticipates a boost from Snap’s 191 million daily viewers. Cohen said that PinkNews has been pursuing the partnership since 2015 in an effort to boost revenue and connect with a younger audience. Snap predicts a natural fit between PinkNews and the Snapchat Discover demographic.
“We’re always working to ensure content on Snapchat is as diverse as our community. Access to a variety of perspectives is important, and we know that Snapchatters will resonate with PinkNews,” said Snap’s Rami Saad.
