More than 200 LGBT+ business leaders gathered in May 2019 in New York for Out Leadership’s 9th annual U.S. Summit, sponsored by EY, Ogilvy, and Ropes & Gray.
Ropes & Gray hosted the second session, Global Insights: Business Innovation Driving Change.
Ropes & Gray Partner, Amanda Persaud moderated a panel of alternative investments leaders, Jaimi Goodfriend, Head of Investment Professional Development, Director, Point72 Academy, Charles Myers, Founder & Chairman, Signum Global Advisors, and Michael McRaith, Managing Director, Blackstone Insurance Solutions.
“Diversity in recruiting is accepted today in theory, but in practice, it’s actually not implemented as much as it should be,” Charles Myers noted.
Jamie Goodfriend expanded on what diversity and implementation really look like:
“With diversity you have a seat at the table. With inclusion, you’re asked to speak.”
Michael McRaith commented on the role of LGBT+ senior leaders and allies in today’s political environment:
“We have an obligation to ourselves to improve our work environment as much as we can, but politically, the stakes are exceptionally high, and the country will benefit from your engagement, our engagement, and our leadership.”
