Amazon has come in for stern criticism from anti-LGBT+ activists after it opted to ban the Alliance Defending Freedom from the AmazonSmile program, which allows Amazon shoppers to designate a charity to receive a donation when they make purchases on the site.
The ADF has opposed same-sex weddings, LGBT+ adoptions, civil unions, the repeal of sodomy laws, and has worked to keep gay sex illegal globally. Amazon banned the group after the Southern Poverty Law Center alerted the retailer to the ADF’s extremism.
