Advocates question why LGBT+ outreach pages vanished from Small Business Administration’s website

Web pages designed to assist the LGBT+ community were restored last week to the Small Business Administration’s website, after a 16 month absence.  The webpages had been removed for review after President Trump was inaugurated in January 2016.

New York Representatives Nydia Velazquez and Yvette Clarke brought the removal of the webpages to the SBA’s attention last August, at which point other pages that were also under construction were back up and running.  SBA officials replied at the time that the agency’s website was under construction and that it planned “to reactivate the (LGBT) webpage in the near future.’

Despite that promise, the webpages were not restored until last week, one week after Velazquez and Clarke voiced concern through a letter to the SBA that the pages’ removal “may have been politically or ideologically motivated”.
