Katrina M. Quicker

Katrina Quicker focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation, with a particular emphasis on patent litigation and pre-litigation counseling. Deemed a “pharmaceutical virtuoso” by IAM Patent 1000, Katrina routinely appears before federal district and appellate courts throughout the country, as well as before tribunals such as the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). She also serves as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia for intellectual property matters. Over the course of her career, she has litigated more than 80 patent infringement cases covering technologies including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, chemical, mechanical, computer and electronics, and consumer products.
A registered patent attorney, Katrina has extensive experience securing, protecting, and managing patents and trademarks in the United States and internationally. She also represents licensors and licensees in negotiating and drafting agreements that transfer intellectual property rights and has advised clients on Hatch-Waxman lawsuits, regulatory filings for FDA Orange Book listing, FDA medical device matters such as premarket approval, and drug manufacturing compliance issues.
Katrina is co-leader of the Patent Litigation team for the firm and is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee.

Sharon M. McGowan is the Chief Strategy Officer and Legal Director of Lambda Legal, the country’s largest and oldest legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and individuals living with HIV. Relying on her litigation expertise and her experience in the Obama administration, Sharon leads the Legal Department’s talented team of over thirty attorneys and paraprofessionals who advocate for our community in courtrooms, statehouses, and other venues throughout the country. As Legal Director, Sharon oversees Lambda Legal’s efforts to resist any attempt by the Trump Administration – or any other opponent of LGBTQ equality – to thwart or roll back our community’s progress toward full formal and lived equality. Sharon joined Lambda Legal in February 2017 as its Director of Strategy, and established Lambda Legal’s Washington, D.C. office.
Previously, McGowan served as the Principal Deputy Chief of the Appellate Section of the Civil Rights Division in Department of Justice. In addition to supervising attorneys working on a broad range of civil rights appellate matters in the U.S. Supreme Court and federal courts of appeals, McGowan advised Department of Justice leadership on high-profile and sensitive litigation and policy matters relating to sexual orientation and gender identity, and served as co-chair of the Division’s Lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) Working Group.

Jennifer C. (Jenny) Pizer is Senior Counsel and Director of Law and Policy for Lambda Legal, the country’s oldest and largest legal advocate for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender(LGBT) civil rights movement. Jenny litigates to protect same-sex couples’ family relationships; to obtain fair conditions for LGBT people in employment, health care, and education; and to challenge the misuse of religion to excuse discrimination. She also drafts legislation, advises policy makers, and works with community advocates to advance nondiscrimination protections.Jenny was lead counsel in the successful marriage equality case in Arizona, and co-counsel for same-sex couples in the successful California state marriage litigation. She has litigated extensively to enforce LGBT civil rights laws and protect reproductive health rights against“religious freedom” challenges, including a unanimous California Supreme Court victory for a lesbian patient denied infertility care due to her doctors’ discriminatory religious objections.From 2011 to 2012, Jenny served as Legal Director of the Williams Institute, a research center atUCLA School of Law. Before that, she directed Lambda Legal’s Marriage Project.
Jenny is a frequent speaker on LGBT equality issues and is often quoted by the national media. She has received many professional achievement and community service awards, including being named among California’s top women litigators seven times.
