Out Leadership’s weekly series “Equality Imperative” continues, with this broadcast being a part of the European Summit. Fabrice Houdart will hold another session on human rights-focused topics around the world. This week we’ll welcome Steve Roth, Kimahli Powell the Executive Director, Rainbow Railroad, Edafe Okporo, Executive Director of RDJ Refugee Shelter, and Rimi Anjali, to hold a discussion focused on LGBTQ+ migration. The audience will hear a mix of personal stories, specificities of “pink Migration” and looking at what’s ahead.

Steve Roth – Executive Director @ ORAM – Organization for Refuge, Asylum & Migration
Steve Roth is Executive Director of ORAM, a pioneering organization working for the protection of exceptionally vulnerable LGBTIQ refugees and asylum seekers. A globally oriented strategic thinker and connector, he leads the organization’s strategic development in conjunction with its board of directors; directs its programmatic work, development, and communications; and oversees operations and partner relations.
Steve graduated from the University of Chicago in Latin American Studies and speaks Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese.
Kimahlihas a wide range of experience in the not–for–profit sector and has spent more than 20 years advocating for social justice, youth, and arts and culture. Prior to Rainbow Railroad, he held numerous director–level positions at organizations including the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network, Dignitas International, Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival and the YMCA.
Kimahli was the 2019 recipient of the Steinert & Ferreiro Award and was listed in OutMagazine’s Out 100 profile of influential LGBT people.

Edafe Okporo is the Executive Director of RDJ Refugee Shelter in New York, Author,Speaker and Diversity Expert
Anjali Rimi – President @ Parivar Bay Area, the first South Asian TGNCI Queer Trans Organization
Anjali Rimi (Koka) (Pronouns:She/They) thrives in the community showing up as a leader driving accountability for Trans Justice. Keeping connected to her Indian Asian roots, she co–founded and serves as the President for Parivar Bay Area, the first South Asian TGNCI Queer Trans Organization. Rimi serves on boards for The LGBT Asylum Project, East Bay Stonewall Democrats and San Francisco Pride along with being on The Trans Advisory Committee with the Office of Transgender Initiatives, City of San Francisco. Anjali Rimi holds an MBA and has been in Corporate America for over 20 years in Business Development & ecommerce operations leadership roles. She is an effective facilitator and a consultant with Diversity Journeys holding workshops across many inclusion topics.
