Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio has stated that if elected he will rescind President Obama’s executive order prohibiting federal contractors from discriminating against people on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.
In a segment of a November interview released over the weekend, Rubio told the Christian Broadcasting Network that under the current policy some businesses were “being compelled to sin by government in their business conduct.” Rubio would also reverse guidelines that have protected restroom access for trans students in public schools.
In a previously released portion of the interview, Rubio criticized the Supreme Court for its decision in Obergefell v. Hodges and stated that marriage equality was “not settled law.” He promised to appoint justices to the court who would interpret and apply the Constitution “based on its original intent.”
