“There’s a real dearth of institutional and organizational support for successful LGBT women in business; OutWOMEN addresses a clear and present need. I’m delighted and honored to have the opportunity to help guide the initiative forward. It is an awesome mission.”

“Being out, being senior — and being seen to have succeeded nonetheless — makes a difference. Building this network helps each of us to visualize the path ahead to pursue executive leadership, leverage the full strength of our authenticity, and be the role models for tomorrow’s LGBT women leaders.”

Convening and celebrating LBT+ women in business

Out women who advance in global multinationals overcome considerable obstacles to do so. Many face stigma, open discrimination and inadequate workplace protections; role models and peer networks are in short supply.  Even organizations that are deeply committed to creating equitable and inclusive workplaces struggle with creating opportunity for LBT+ women in business.

OutWOMEN is our groundbreaking initiative connecting, supporting and celebrating out women in business. We convene out women, and champion their work – to colleagues and fellow executives, to other out women, particularly next-gen LBT+ leaders, and to the market. When business leaders see the important impact that out women leaders have – and understand their unique challenges and strengths – perhaps more LBT+ women will be given the opportunity, and the resources necessary, to lead.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Fewer than 1% of FTSE 250 CEOs are women

  • The Financial Times publishes an annual list of the world’s leading LGBT+ executives; and in 2015 only 24% of the list were women

Our Summits have been hosted by some of the world’s most influential businesses and institutions including:

For OutWOMEN, by OutWOMEN

OutWOMEN convenes private, invitation-only salon dinners in global business centers, which has included New York, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Los Angeles, London, and Hong Kong. These dinners center on engaging conversation and facilitating cross-business opportunity among a curated cohort of senior LBT+ women executives – and allow the women themselves to guide the initiative’s priorities.

OutWOMEN also hosts events keyed to Out Leadership’s global Summits in New York, Hong Kong, Sydney, and London, which are open to LBT+ women in business and their allies.

For more information about OutWOMEN

Participation in OutWOMEN is generally reserved as a benefit of membership in Out Leadership, but we are always looking to connect with LBT+ women in business, regardless of industry. To engage with this groundbreaking initiative, please contact us today.
