“In a time when markets and morals can be horses running in the same direction to advance the well-being of the LGBT+ community, I am delighted to advise an organization that so expertly yokes them together.”

KENJI YOSHINO

CHIEF JUSTICE EARL WARREN

PROFESSOR OF CONSTITUTIONAL LAW AT NEW YORK UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW

“Those of us in the legal profession, and especially those of us who are managing partners at law firms, must create a culture that lets every lawyer – especially junior lawyers – know that they will not be disadvantaged in achieving professional success because of their gender identity, sex, ace, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic that has to do with who they are.”

RICHARD A. ROSENBAUM

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

GREENBERG TRAURIG

“We need organizations like Out in Law to continue and deepen the amazing progress toward justice and equality our community and this nation has made.”

ROBERTA KAPLAN

PARTNER, PAUL, WEISS

MEMBER, OUT IN LAW LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE

out in street

The first global LGBT+ Leadership organization for the legal industry, by the legal industry.

Out in Law connects senior LGBT+ and Ally lawyers from leading global law firms to discuss crucial innovations at the intersection of LGBT+ and the law, create business opportunity, cultivate talent, and drive equality forward. Its premise is that LGBT+ inclusion drives positive business results – that there’s a Return on Equality™.

Convening at three annual summits in New York, Hong Kong and London, Out in Law leaders collectively set a forward-looking agenda for the global legal industry. Out in Law member firms have access to Out Leadership’s proprietary insights and trainings, as well as to its Talent Initiatives OutNEXT and Quorum.

Out in Law Summits, Salons and other programming have been made possible by additional support from institutions including:

Leading the conversation at the intersection of LGBT+ interests and the law

Out in Law is driven by world-class, engaging content touching on the most important global legal issues relating to LGBT+ rights, created in collaboration with member firms.

In 2015, Out in Law participants had the opportunity to engage in panel discussions digging into the transformative power of attorney-client relationships; a fireside chat between CEOs about the way that legal leaders can drive change within their organizations; a conversation with two State Attorneys General about their crucial decisions to refuse to defend gay marriage bans, and a groundbreaking conversation about marriage equality between The Honorable Judge Vaughn R Walker (who heard the arguments in the Perry case in California, and ultimately ruled against Proposition 8), legal scholar Kenji Yoshino, and Roberta Kaplan, who argued Windsor v. United States before the U.S. Supreme Court.
