Following the Trump administration’s reversal of the U.S. federal government’s position on transgender rights, the Supreme Court will not hear Grimm vs. Gloucester County School Board.
Gavin Grimm, 17, had sued his school for the right to use the bathroom consistent with his gender identity at school.
The Court had agreed to hear the case in October, and arguments were expected to begin this month.
In 2015, the Department of Education issued a letter instructing schools to treat students according to their gender identity – although that instruction had been subject to an injunction. But the Trump administration withdrew that guidance in February, with a letter signed by the Departments of Education and Justice.
